Evil Deer, Lyme Disease, Canon XTI
I hate these F’n deer. Cute? I don’t think so.
These pics are not great, but I took all of these deer shots in my yard to show you how close Beelzebub’s minions can be to you. Even the monster buck with the massive rack was just yards from my front door. And get this…… I live just a few miles from the Philadelphia city line in a very very populated area. Just unbelievable.
The Real Problem
Here in Southeastern Pennsylvania, we have millions of pounds of deer burgers on the hoof roaming free. We have a very vocal population of dippy, know-nothing house fraus who love Bambi and think the more deer we have, the happier are our lives. Well BS. These things are EVIL.
Why do I hate these cloven hoofed, horned devils? Well here are a few reasons:
- They eat my yard – Every flower, every expensive shrub, everything green and nice is chomped mercilessly to a brown ugly stub by theses greedy slobs
- They crap all over the place – They especially liked an area in the corner of my property and one year, after a long snow storm, I trudged out to check out the place and found they had a table set up with towels, mints, and cologne
- They dart out in front of cars causing terrible accidents – I thought Darwin would have weeded out the stupid ones but no, after 100 years of automobiles, they still don’t “get it”
- They wreck the habitats of other animal and bird species – many once common bird species here in Southeastern PA are now rare as these greedy beasts eat their protective cover
- They spread LYME Disease!!!!!!! – And I got it
LYME Disease
Don’t get it. Spray DEET on yourself and up your shirt and pants before you go out and cut the grass or work in your garden. Immediately toss your clothes directly into a washer when you are done and then jump into the shower and scour yourself until you bleed. This is a serious disease and can be debilitating and dangerous. I was lucky in that I had the bulls-eye rash but not everyone gets this marker and can be infected years with this awful disease while it wrecks havoc on your body.
By the way, even with the rash marker, I tested negative for the disease. If you think you have it, just get on an antibiotic to be safe. Knocking it out when it is its early stages is easy, thank goodness. My doctor said it is a true epidemic here in Southeastern PA and I know folks who have been re-infected more than once!
And yes, that is my infected pit. Boy was I sick.
Hope for Eradication
There are glimmers of hope for ridding the world of this scourge. The house fraus here have gotten a bit tired of replanting their precious flowers every week and some culling of these rats have been underway for a while now. But it wasn’t easy getting this required task approved by the township. The fraus required countless “studies” of the problem and wanted the animals SHOT WITH MONTHLY BIRTH CONTROL!!!! Yes, you can’t make this stuff up. It makes me sick….. and poorer as my taxes go to appease the uneducated directives of these fraus.
I grew up in Western PA…. yea, if you’ve been there you know where I am going with this one. There, we just shoot ‘em and eat ‘em. You ain’t nuttin’ if you don’t have a big buck hanging in your garage in the fall. The steel mills closed on the first day of deer season. Beer ‘n Deer parties are legend. A kegger, meat grinder, fire, ketchup…. you get it. Yea boy, that is living!!!!
My recommendation to the township here was to simply supply an unlimited river of beer and an old school bus to transport anyone from Western PA here. Then, over one long weekend, hide the kids and tie up the pets….. problem solved. Don’t go outside or you will be filled with buckshot. Hunters from Western PA are fast, efficient, drunk, and dangerous.
Canon XTI
This was my first DSLR and it got me into photography again. I liked this camera as it could take great photos but you had to get things just right to get an outstanding image. I don’t see it mentioned in the blogs or camera reviews, but the biggest advantage I see to newer cameras today is that it is really easier than ever to get a great image without really trying. Way more so than with the equipment of just a few years ago.
The Equipment:
- Canon 5D Mk II and XTI
- Canon 70-200mm L f/2.8 IS II
- 30% deet
- Anitbiotics
