Bruce DeBonis, The Intrepid Amateur
I make no bones about being anything other than an amateur.ย I just love traveling, seeing new things, and taking pictures.ย The experience of seeing a great photograph that I took is something that is hard to beat.ย I had little clue as to what I was doing when I started in this hobby but realized that good photography is no accident and that it can be learned.ย
When I got started in this hobby, I could not understand why the pictures I was taking looked so awful compared to the beautiful photography I saw in the media and on the internet.ย ย Now I will never claim to have any real talent but I noticed that as I read more, took more pictures, stared at others good photos, and experimented with my equipment, my pictures improved.ย I then began to realize that as I became a better photographer, I was applying the same simple rules of thumb to setting up my shots and began to use the same camera settings as a starting point.ย There wasnโt much to this photography stuff other than some basics to get you 80% there.ย Click here for my beginner’s guide and secret settings.
So my objective with this website is to provide some insights into how to make good pictures and maybe entertain a few folks along the way.
Oh by the way, you may have noticed that I didn’t post a full picture of myself.ย Why?ย Well as I just wrote, that picture here is not a full picture of me.ย Now do you understand?
I highly recommend having a few beers as you read this material.ย After all, I did when I wrote most of this stuff.
Peace,
Bruce

thank you – thank you – thank you!
Got out of that nasty automatic mode, needed a bit of red vino (it does work as well as beer).
It was great to get some help on how to use the camera while having a laugh with your stories.

Your are welcome, Gio.
Red wine does work, although it gives me heartburn and then interferes with me drinking even more. Never, never limit your creative intake.

Refael and I met you yesterday somewhere in Gap Pa, photographing the juvenile eagles.
Meeting you was an amazing experience for me. You are an extremely personable and interesting person.
Your blog is equally fascinating.
I am so glad we met!.
